Welcome to The
Daybook™! The
Daybook’s purpose is to help you organise your work. It will make your job easier and save you time. The
Daybook will enable you to keep track of what you have done, what still
needs doing and will give you quick access to the information you have
collected. Use
your Daybook to write in everything you would normally write on notepads
and loose pieces of paper. Write
down also any information relevant to your work that you keep in your
head. (If you do write
something on a piece of paper, stick it in your Daybook so you don’t
lose it and have access to that information later.) If
you do this, all your information will be in one place so nothing can be
lost, misplaced or forgotten. If
you need to refer to something later, it will be in your Daybook. You will also be covered if there is ever any question or
query about a decision you have made or action you have taken.
For you will be able to look back in your Daybook/s and find out
how, why and when something happened.
To
help you remember to do everything you have written down, The Daybook
gives you a simple cross checking system that works as follows: You work through your Daybook, writing all your information
on the General Work pages, using as many pages each day as you need.
When you have completed everything on a page, colour in the
triangle at the top corner of that page.
After every seven pages you will find a yellow Outstanding Action
Summary page. These are there
to prompt you to go back to the preceding work pages and check those that
do not have their triangle coloured in.
If there are any unresolved actions on these pages, bring them
forward to the yellow page, re-prioritise them and deal with them.
This cross checking system is easy to use and it works brilliantly. To
help you plan your work The Daybook has a Time Line Task Planner on the
back of every Outstanding Action Summary page.
By planning your tasks on this page you will get an overview of
what you will be doing over a period of time, be it a fortnight, a month
or even a year. This task
planner is on the back of every outstanding action summary page so that
you can update your plan every time you are prompted to cross check your
work. To use this task planner just list your upcoming tasks down
the left hand side of the page and fill in the time axis across the top of
the page with the time intervals you need, depending on the time frame you
want to use. Then to plan
your work simply draw lines across the page from the starting time to the
finishing time of every task you have written down.
These lines will represent the time you expect your tasks to take.
This page will enable you to see your busiest times and will help
you plan your time more effectively. For
more information about using The Daybook, please refer to the How To Use
page near the front of the book. Best
wishes, QA
